PRISTINA, 28 July 2000 - The Albanian-language daily newspaper "Rilindja" has responded to the 21 July warning letter issued by the Temporary Media Commissioner Douglas Davidson, who is also the Director of the Media Affairs Department of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

In his response, the newspaper editor-in-chief said: "Rilindja" had instructed its staff to respect the regulation, which prohibits the publishing of personal details which could endanger an individual's life or security, in order to avoid further sanctions.

The newspaper also expressed its readiness to co-operate with the Office of the Temporary Media Commissioner, who in turn said he was satisfied with the response provided by "Rilindja".

The warning was issued following the publication of an article found to be in breach of the Print Regulation. The article, which appeared in the newspaper's 18 July edition, named a number of individuals and accused them of war crimes.
