The OSCE Mission in Kosovo will launch a traffic safety campaign aimed at assisting the Kosovo police in increasing traffic safety, and public trust in the police as an institution.
The campaign will use six original-size Kosovo police car models, so-called “Second Patrols”, as a speeding prevention mechanism. In addition, 300,000 leaflets providing driving safety tips in Albanian, Serbian, Turkish and English will be distributed by police patrols Kosovo-wide.
Traffic safety remains one of the top priorities for Kosovo police due to a high number of traffic accidents that result with deaths and injuries. Data show that most of the accidents are caused by non-compliance with the traffic safety rules such as disregarding speed limits, reckless driving, and speeding while overtaking and bypassing vehicles.
