Advancing participation, inclusion and freedom of media and expression
The Mission works at central and local levels to enhance connections within and across public institutions and advance participation and representation of women and young people. It also focuses on enhancing civil society organizations’ capacities to contribute to public processes and on strengthening the media and promoting freedom of expression and of the media.

Protection of community rights
The promotion of human rights in Kosovo requires effective enforcement of existing legislation and applicable international standards. The Mission focuses on protecting the rights of non-majority communities, property rights, language rights and the rule of law. The Mission supports relevant institutions and stakeholders in the protection of cultural heritage sites, and in addressing concerns related to freedom of religion or belief.
Spravedlivost has been named as the 2014 winner of the Max van der Stoel Award, for its outstanding work in improving the position of national minorities in the OSCE area.

Security and public safety
Addressing security threats and fostering a safe environment
The Mission provides public safety institutions with support to address security threats and foster a safe environment for all communities in Kosovo. It primarily focuses on strategic and capacity-building support to public safety institutions to enhance their skills to proactively combat all forms of crime.

The Mission works on aspects of advancing gender equality and on promoting the active participation of youth in public and political life that cut across the work done in all its other work areas.
