An advanced 10-day training course on drug trafficking investigation held by the OSCE Mission for the Kosovo Police drug squad concluded in Prishtinë/Priština on 31 May 2013.

The course focused on drug trafficking routes, financial investigations, asset seizures and the planning of arrest operations.

“Kosovo’s police is already closely watching and analysing the emerging drug trafficking routes and methods used by criminal networks. As a result there has been a significant increase in drug seizures in Kosovo over the last five years,” said John Corrigan, a senior adviser on organized crime with the OSCE Mission.

“The training courses we deliver help increase police effectiveness by keeping the drug squad officers up to date with the most recent investigative methods and arrest operations planning techniques,” he added.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human and community rights protection and promotion, democratization and public safety sector development. It delivers advanced and specialized training courses for law enforcement agencies.
