OSCE Mission Head condemns attack against North Mitrovica municipal assembly candidate

Prishtinë/Priština, 14 October 2013 – Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger condemned today’s attack on the property of Nebojša Marić who is listed as a candidate for North Mitrovica/Mitrovicë municipal assembly.

“I strongly condemn the bombing incident that targeted Nebojša Marić’s property,” said Schlumberger. “I regret the fact that election-related security incidents in northern Kosovo are persisting at a time when all efforts should be focused on creating an environment where people can chose and be chosen freely.”

Schlumberger also called on the authorities to respond to this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice, in order to contribute to lasting security and stability in the area.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human rights protection and promotion, democratization and public safety sector development.
